Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent, Legacy, Impreza, WRX. Boxer engines, CVTs, symmetrical AWD — different from every other car we work on, and we’ve been doing it for decades. Head gaskets, CVT service, wheel bearings — all in-house.

EJ25 head gasket on 2010–2011, FB25 timing chain tensioner past 100k. CVT service every 60k on both — skip it and the trans starts hunting.
Wheel bearings are consumables on these — hum that changes with lane change. Axle shafts on high-mile AWD. FB20 oil consumption on 2013–2014.
FA24 turbo on Ascent — PCV, valve cover gasket, coolant hose from turbo. Legacy: mostly maintenance, occasionally CVT valve body.
EJ257 ringland cracks (2008–2014) — watch for oil consumption + smoke. FA20DIT carbon buildup. Blue Ink brake fluid on track cars. We speak boxer.

Classic Subaru job. 2010–2011 was the worst; 2012+ FB25 is much better but not immune. Signs: coolant loss, misfires, oil in the overflow. We do the timing kit + water pump at the same time.
Subaru High Torque CVT fluid only. NOT universal, NOT ATF, NOT Nissan NS-3. Drain, refill, level with SSM4 at temp. Every 60k. This is the difference between 60k and 200k CVT life.
Symmetrical AWD wears both fronts and both rears evenly. When you hear one, plan for the other. OE-quality bearings, torque to spec, hub washed and reassembled clean.
FB25 and FA24 have chains, not belts. Chain rattle on cold start past 120k = tensioner and guide job. Not urgent, but track it — if it skips a tooth, valves meet pistons.
